The purpose of the Letcher County Tree of Hope, Inc. is very simple. We want to help our community! There is no better way to show others that you love them than by reaching out. I know a lot of us are struggling, especially during the Christmas season. We work directly with the K-12 school systems of Letcher County and Jenkins, Helping Hands program, Women's Abuse Shelter, Social Services, local churches, etc. to obtain names of children and their siblings from low to no income homes. Children may also be placed on the list due to emergencies such as house fires, emergency removal from the home, unexpected job loss, or death of a parent or caregiver. Any child being placed on the Tree of Hope must be referred by one of the above programs or must have an emergency reason approved by the Board of Directors of the Letcher County Tree of Hope, Inc. This is for the benefit of all children who desperately need this program.
Generous businesses and members of the community will then choose a name or several names to buy Christmas gifts for this Holiday Season. Those gifts will then be distributed to the children they choose. The amount of names taken will be solely based on the amount of names being requested and the total amount we collect via fundraising. The more donations and the more names taken from the tree means the MORE children we can help. Our goal is to not have to turn away ANY child who fits our criteria. Now...all it takes from you is $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, $50.00, etc... donating your time to help with a fundraiser... donating your efforts to help share this page and get donations... donating a prayer to bless this wonderful ministry... The possibilities to help ARE out there. You just have to open your heart and join our efforts to give these children a bright Christmas.
